Teen fired over her Facebook status mesage (0)

I saw this on CNN earlier and the news just made me go "Whaat?"

It's true. Kimberley Swann lost her job at Ivell Marketing & Logistics. She said she was bored and she got kicked out! Her boss said he didn't want bad publicity and it wasn't just gonna work if she was unhappy with her job.Source

1. I think she has every right to vent out or say whatever she wants to say (especially it was her personal page and she kept the company name confidential).

2. Geez what's new? It's very common for people to get bored at work.

3. Companies aren't supposed to nose around their employees' personal web pages.

4. I wonder if the boss did try to talk to her about her concerns at work and maybe come up with a solution/win-win situation. I hope he did.

48 year old Korean woman named Hang Mioku was obsessed

Who could forget $4M work on Jocelyn Wildenstein (cat woman)?

Reports tell us that since 1997, there has been a
457 percent increase in the total number of cosmetic procedures. Surgical procedures increased by 114 percent, and nonsurgical procedures increased by 754 percent.

AND Americans spent just under
$13.2 billion on cosmetic procedures in 2006.

I doubt it's gonna be the same this year or in the next few years. Hey that's a lot of money considering this is only the US we're talking about here.

Well during this "wonderful" (ugh) time of crisis, you guys might want to re-think or think a lot harder if you really want to get that "enhancement". You might actually be saving not just money but your face as well.

Yea yea blame it on the octopus! (0)

5:26 PM by , under

Flooding at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium was blamed on an eight-legged creature, yes an octopus! Their offices were soaked in aquarium water and apparently, it was caused by a tiny female octopus (known for being curious and gregarious with visitors) who tugged on a valve that released gallons of water. It's coming in April and it's goin to be a Portuguese Water Dog.

"Temperamentally they're supposed to be pretty good," Mrs. Obama said. "From the size perspective, they're sort of middle of the road — it's not small, but it's not a huge dog. And the folks that we know who own them have raved about them. So that's where we're leaning."Source
It's the same dog as U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy's. According to the first lady, name choices include Frank and Moose. Here's how that cute thing will look like:

Now we're beginning to see how big and influential the iPod has become. Apple will actually be working with top automobile manufacturers such as General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. to integrate the iPod into car audio systems. How cool is that?

Today we're limited to accessories such as these:

I have a feeling the integrated car iPod docks will be similar to this. What's so nice about it then? Reports tell us

Ford said Thursday it will offer the iPod integration as a dealer-installed option called "TripTunes Advanced" at a suggested price of about $200, plus installation. An adapter that doubles as a battery-charging station would go in either the glove box or center storage console. Users would then be able to control the iPod through buttons on the steering wheel or the radio. Playlists, artists, and other song information will also be displayed on the cars' systems.
Neat, huh? But $200 might take us a little more time to decide (leaning to a Yes or a No?)

A good Samaritan saved lives, got severely hurt (bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen) from it and he still got a parking ticket??

DENVER – A good Samaritan who pushed three people out of the path of a pickup before he was struck and injured has been ticketed for jaywalking. Family members say 58-year-old Jim Moffett and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Friday night.

Moffett suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He remained hospitalized Wednesday in serious but stable condition.

The Colorado State Patrol issued the citation. Trooper Ryan Sullivan told the Rocky Mountain News that despite Moffett's intentions, jaywalking caused the accident.

The other good Samaritan was also cited for jaywalking. The pickup driver was cited with careless driving causing injury.

Sullivan says the two elderly women haven't been cited but the investigation is ongoing.

"It's a horrible tragedy," he said.

Sullivan said Moffett and the others weren't in a crosswalk, but said he didn't know why the bus stop was in an area without one. Source

Ash Wednesday (0)

8:45 PM by , under

Today marks the beginning of the Lenten Season for Christians. A holiday of obligation for Catholics which is the day they got to mass and get ash crosses written on their forehead. Easter is exactly 40 days from today.

The ashes used on Ash Wednesday are usually derived from burning the blessed palm branches left from the last Palm Sunday celebration. The ashes are blessed, sprinkled with holy water and fumigated with incense.

Members of the clergy receive ashes from fellow clergy, usually from the most senior member of the clergy present. Monks receive their mark of ashes on their tonsure rather than their foreheads. Priests then place ashes on all willing members of the congregation, usually in the shape of a cross.

At some churches, believers wash the ashes off before leaving the church to symbolize that they have been cleansed of their sins; in other churches, participants leave the ashes on when they leave, thereby "carrying the cross out into the world."

In the Roman Catholic Church, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the only days on which fasting is still universally required. Religion Facts; Image Source

On Children (0)

12:46 AM by , under

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

I had to wait for the perfect timing to get this shot right. But lying out in that open beach, on a lovely hammock, with the colorful seashell lamps lit all around me, I did not mind at all.

To catch something this beautiful, not just in photographs but in our lives, I believe it's important to be patient and wait for that perfect timing. It's always well worth it.

Poor kid outside Mcdonalds

I was going through some of my old pictures and I stumbled upon this. A photo I took for my boyfriend's class. They had to make a poster on a certain campaign. We were eating in McDonald's when this child beggar approached us.

Poverty.com reported
About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations. This is one person every three and a half seconds
A reminder for us to be grateful for what we have.

A challenge for us to do whatever we can to make a difference in this world. I believe we can never have too little to share.

No one really wanted to believe it until he actually said something.

E! Online reported that:

Chris Brown says he is seeking counseling from loved ones and family members, one week after an alleged attack against his girlfriend, singer Rihanna.

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."

It's one thing to make a mistake, it's another to actually do something about it. Show us you're more than that, Chris B.

I'm here to change that.

Browse around and save yourself from getting wrinkled foreheads from all that stress. Here will be my melting pot of my oh so many interests.
